Smart Energy Storage Systems in Distribution Grid and Residential Applications

Short description

The session objectives are focused on gathering scientists and providing interesting discussion about smart, innovative solutions for energy storage systems in distributed grid and residential applications: topologies, control, energy management, stability improvement, power quality improvement, reliability, island and grid mode of operation, uninterruptible power delivery, integration of energy storage with renewable energy sources, and distribution grid support.

The energy storage systems are crucial for the stability and reliability of a distributed grid composed of many renewable energy sources providing unpredictable power, often installed in residential applications. The Grid operators and customers face many issues related to the voltage and current quality at the interconnection point. Developing energy storage systems, designed and smartly controlled to improve the operation of the energy system at any level, is challenging and required.
