Keynote Speaker

Tensor Networks and Deep Learning and their Applications in AI, Brain Computer Interface and Time Series Predictions

Andrzej Cichocki

Abstract In this talk I will briefly overview fundamental tensor networks and selected deep neural network models, especially   hierarchical Tucker, tensor train, and tensor ring models. Their basic properties and algorithms will be illustrated by graphs and computer animations. Various signal and image processing applications of tensor networks and deep learning in AI will be discussed, especially, in brain computer interface, classification, compression, image reconstruction, completion and prediction.

Andrzej Cichocki received the M.Sc. (with honors), Ph.D. and Dr.Sc. (Habilitation) degrees, all in electrical engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland). He spent 4 years at University Erlangen (Germany) as an Alexander-von-Humboldt Research Fellow and Guest Professor. He was a Senior Team Leader and Head of the laboratories at RIKEN BSI (Brain Science Institute) in Japan form 1995 till 2018.  He established and conducted in Riken BSI three laboratories: Open Information Systems, Artificial Brain Systems, and Cichocki Laboratory for Advanced Brain Signal Processing. Currently he is a Professor in Systems Research Institute of Polish Academy of Science in Warsaw, and adjunct professor in Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland.

He is author of more than 600 technical journal papers and 6 monographs (books) in English (3 of them translated to Chinese). He served as Associated Editor of IEEE Transactions on Signals Processing, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Journal of Neuroscience Methods and he was founding Editor in Chief for Journal Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience. Currently, his research focus on AI, Brain Computer Interfaces, tensor decompositions and tensor networks for Machine Learning, and Signal Processing for biomedical applications. His publications currently report over 65,000 citations according to Google Scholar, with an h-index of 120. He is Fellow of the IEEE since 2013. Dr. Cichocki has been selected in 2021-2023 by Web of Science (Clarivate) for his multiple top publications on the list of Highly Cited Researchers. He is one of the most cited scientists working in electrical engineering and computer science affiliated with Poland.
